K3b & DVD-writer

I installed K3b, 0.10.1, among with other stuff such as DVD+RW tools. I also installed my new dvd-writer that can handle both -R/W & +R/W discs.
But when trying to write a dvd-rw, K3b returns the following error:

System
-----------------------
K3b Version: 0.10.1
KDE Version: 3.1.3
QT Version: 3.1.2

growisofs
-----------------------
/dev/scsi/host2/bus0/target0/lun0/cd: engaging DVD-RW DAO upon user request...
:-( Failed to change write speed: 2822->2704

growisofs comand:
-----------------------
/usr//bin/growisofs -Z /dev/scsi/host2/bus0/target0/lun0/cd -use-the-force-luke=notray -use-the-force-luke=tty -use-the-force-luke=dummy -use-the-force-luke=dao -speed=2 -gui -graft-points -V K3b data project -volset -A K3B THE CD KREATOR VERSION 0.10.1 (C) 2003 SEBASTIAN TRUEG AND THE K3B TEAM -P -p K3b - Version 0.10.1 -sysid LINUX -volset-size 1 -volset-seqno 1 -sort /tmp/kde-cojniz/k3bd0ONva.tmp -r -hide-list /tmp/kde-cojniz/k3b6PGlHb.tmp -l -iso-level 2 -path-list /tmp/kde-cojniz/k3buChydc.tmp

I use scsi-emulation for all my optical drives.
But why can't it change speed? Faulty writer or is there a setting or something I should change somewhere?
Cheers!

Wouldn't be a Sony would it? That's exactly the problem (among others) I was having with a new Sony 510A. I found on the Sony website that even when by itself the Sony will not work right if pinned "Cable Select" but has to be pinned "Master" when alone. I changed the pinning and now it's great other than the fact that it sounds like a thrashing machine while burnibg a CD.

Nah, it's a NEC ND-1300A. And I've pinned it as master, for some reason I never use cable select. But, master, sec. ide-channel and a slave NEC CD-ROM (old).
But perhaps I should try having it alone on that ide-channel?
