k3b and disk burn error
 

Hello. This is my first time posting on a forum. I could not actually find any info on my problem on google or anything because I don't know what to call it.

I am using Debian and k3b to burn a CDs. The first disk I write, I "verify written data". This disk checks out okay. Nothing wrong with it at all.

The second (and all following disks) I do not choose "verify written data". I had assumed that since it worked the first time, it should work each time afterward. However, when I went to try this disk (after erroroneously deleting all material that was burned to the disk), it would not work. Debian would not mount it. It said that it does not have a valid fs type.

I also tried to dd if=/dev/hdd of=/home/user/iso.iso

This was likewise fruitless.


It seems that all disks I choose to "verify written data" work fine. If I do not, it seems to have no file system.


My question: how can I recover the data from those disks burned, or even repair the disks themselves (preferable).


It should be noted that Windows2000 and XP on different CD drives and different computers also did not find this disk.

I've used IsoBuster [on Windoz] for data recovery and it did pretty well..

U should give it a try....

I have tried ISOBuster. I have also tried Stellar Phoenix (DMR and CDROM). Neither worked.

I think the problem lies in the fact that I am using an AOpen burner. Apparently they have been known for issues with the burners. The first CD appears to have been a fluke and the other 7 disks burned improperly as my burner always tries to burn things.

Try CDRoller ... looks somewhat promising...
