I guess detpenguin and I actually interpret things differently, though he seems more on point. Though I would appreciate clarification of whether the CDs in question are audio or data. If you are burning audio CD-RWs and they are not playing in a standalone player, this is actually quite common with stand-alone players.
The CDs end up sounding jumbled and skippy, completely unlistenable. I have no problems burning normal CD-Rs though. I am trying to burn audio and mp3 data CD-RWs.
Thanks for all the replys!

My solutions
1. Dont use rw's for burning music. its really a waste of money when you can buy 50 cd-rs for like 20 bucks.
2. Sounds like there is an error, when you write. like on Gentoo i had the same problems writing to DVD's and RW's but not cd-r. make sure you installed all the correct plug-ins for k3b. Once I emerged everything i was supposed to. k3b ran great, much better then NERO or any other windows POS cd buring software
