K3b

Hello,
Firstly I rtied out K3B the other day. I was delighted to see that it was detecting my DVD reader and cd-writer fully. However installation was a pain.
I downloaded the Slackware tgz to find that it wouldnt install. I eventually copped on that there were 3 main directories - opt, usr, lib I think.

I just copied the contents of these to my root /opt , /usr , and /lib dirs manually. It was awkward and took some time but worked. I could have wrote a script of my own to do this better than the installerd one I think seem as the installer did nothing, but it does "seem" to work

1 problem:
--------------
There are dependencies for cdrdao, and probably will be for cdrtools when that one is resolved.

Question:
-------------
Do I need to download these files on the web or are they included somewhere on the install disks. If on the discs, where?

p.s I have/use a 2CD install set that I got free with a magazine as opposed to the bloated 4 CD iso's on the web.

Any one else find these troubles?
Also, my dvd reader seemed to have trouble mounting siscs after but I think this is ok now.

You should use pkgtool to install packages in slackware.

$ find /mnt/cdrom/slackware |grep cdr[dt]
/mnt/cdrom/slackware/ap/cdrdao-1.1.9-i486-1.tgz.asc
/mnt/cdrom/slackware/ap/cdrdao-1.1.9-i486-1.tgz
/mnt/cdrom/slackware/ap/cdrdao-1.1.9-i486-1.txt
/mnt/cdrom/slackware/ap/cdrtools-2.00.3-i486-1.tgz.asc
/mnt/cdrom/slackware/ap/cdrtools-2.00.3-i486-1.tgz
/mnt/cdrom/slackware/ap/cdrtools-2.00.3-i486-1.txt

I presume those are on Slackware CD1.
If so, sounds good. I'll try it.

Thanx

Yes, that worked nicely.
Pkgtool was fine. I'll use it from now on most of the time.
Thanx
