Unhappy K mid will not play midi files

K mid will not play midi files. When file is chosen to play, the player reports back with the following:-
-----------------------------------------------------------
Could not open /dev/sequencer.
Probably there is another program using it.
-----------------------------------------------------------

Would timidity solve this problem?

There are no sound players running during session

Dear studioj

Just out of interest, whats missing from k-mid and how would I get it?

Would prefer using Kmid as timidity has no GUI

yea like we were saying before you need to run a software synthesiser like timidity
steps:
start timidity like
timidity -iA -B2,8 -Os
in a ternminal window and leave it running
then start KMID
go to
Settings->midi setup
choose one of the timidity ports and click OK

now KMid works ?
