K Menu probelms?

I recently installed Suse9.0 and I am very happy with it. Since I did an FTP install I selected very few packages to be installed. I then went back and installed all the packages I wanted, which totalled about 5Gb. Problem is that the K Menu (KDE Start Menu) never got updated with these new packages. I ran K Menu Editor and the programs were there, but they werent there in the real K Menu. Gnome has all my programs in its menu, but I think KDE is superior in a lot of ways. Any ideas? Anyone know how to change the K Menu w/ out using the editor? Im still a linux noob so try to be simple when explaining, thanks!

Here are some screenshots to help you guys out:

not sure if this is a command specific to mandrake (i'm still a newb too!!!) or if it works for anything that has kde on it but: $ update-meunus -v worked for getting some apps back that had mysteriously dissapeared from my kmenu
