I just installed samba/SWAT from my mandrake distro started trying to DL it then realized it was part of the software i could install from the distro CD's anyway how do i set it up use it so i can network with my windows box's?

ok, pay particular attention to the bolded sections of the conifg file and edit your accordingly. Be sure to run testparm after your edit and save.
Next you'll need to add some users.
from term as root smbadduser or smbuseradd (i can never remember)
to easily login from windows, setup a user in linux, samba and windows all with the same login and pwd.
Then you'll need to start the smb service.

give it a shot and then you can trouble shoot it from there.

thnx for the reference, after a bit of reading, and trial i have the network up and working, i used a combination of linnetwork/samba/swat i discovered tho that some of the reading material out there is a bit outdated with a newer distro and if you just browse the included software its alot easier than the reading suggests.
