In general you have to create a link to libjavaplugin_oji.so (located in jre/plugin/i386/ns7/) in the plugin directory in your browser's main configuration directory.

I have the same problem. I downloaded 'jre-1_5_0_06-linux-i586.bin' and installed it - it created a directory /usr/java/jre1.5.0_06

I followed the instructions on the Java page exactly to create the link in the Firefox plugins directory - 'ln -s /usr/java/jre1.5.0_06/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so'

The properties window for the plugin shows the correct Location and Link Target.

When I use the Java page Verify Installation I get nothing. The bar at the top of the window says I need to get the Java plugin.

Any help please

Alan
