Hi,

I installed jre1.6.0_03 on my Fedora 8 machine. I am using the Firefox version 2.0.0.8.

To enable java plugin, I created a symbolic link for the file jre1.6.0_03/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so in my firefox plugin directory.

When searched for " aboutlugins "in my firefox search bar, it did show the java plugin installed


Java(TM) Plug-in 1.6.0_03-b05

File name: libjavaplugin_oji.so
Java(TM) Plug-in 1.6.0_03

But still I am not able to open java enabled web pages. I have enabled java as well as js in my firefox preferences.

The jre test from http://www.java.com/en/download/inst...tect=jre&try=1 also fails.

Does it got something to do with the SE policies??? I disabled the SElinux, still it is not working???

The error that is shown in the console is

VM did not start up properly
java_vm: xcb_xlib.c:50: xcb_xlib_unlock: Assertion `c->xlib.lock' failed.
Could not read ack from child process
Plugin: Java VM process has died.
Could not start JavaVM!


How can I avoid this???

Any idea what could be the reason for:
