jpilot z22 can't sync
Hello. I have a z22 palm pilot. I have synced it successfully before when I was using Vector 7.0. But, I now have a new computer, and set up Ubuntu on it. Jpilot will not sync on this computer.
z22 relies on usb to sync. Jpilot is set on "usb:" for sync port. Jpilot is version 1.8.1.2. Ubuntu is version 13.10.

More information:

So I set jpilot to work from ttyUSB1, and got the following result:
Code:
****************************************
Syncing on device /dev/ttyUSB1
Press the HotSync button now

pi_bind error: /dev/ttyUSB1 Permission denied
Check your sync port and settings
Exiting with status SYNC_ERROR_BIND
Finished.

Well, I solved this. It was a permissions problem, so initially I synced it running jpilot with sudo. This however led to any records that had been changed being given root ownership, and so I'd always have to operate it with sudo (if I didn't, then entire fields of data would not be visible). I discovered though that adding my user to the group "dialout" allowed me to be able to sync. So, any ownership of any databases that had been changed when I used sudo to sync it I changed back to my regular user, which due to now belonging to the dialout group can now sync.
