javac doesn't work

I just downloaded j2sdk-1.4.2-nb-3.5-bin-linux.bin from, and I installed it correctly into /opt/j2sdk_nb. But when I tried to compile a program( at /home/guest, I typed /opt/j2sdk_nb/j2sdk1.4.2/bin/javac, and the terminal returned:"bash: javac: command not found"? Can anyone tell me how to solve this problem?

The only thing I can think of is that your java bin directory is not in your path.

i would try

export PATH=$PATH:/path/to/java/bin/directory

or put that in your /etc/profile

Maybe a permissions setting. Try as root.
