Java with Firefox...

Hi, I have been 100% Windows free since 8-3-04 and have been so happy!
I have now convinced my wife to make the switch. She is already hooked on Firefox, a good thing but she is having a problem using Yahoo Pool, which presents a pop up stating I need to install Java. I downloaded j2re-1_4_2_05-linux-i586.bin and followed all of the instructions. Now the Yahoo java loads fine in Mozilla 1.6 but still no luck with Firefox. The web site continues to give a pop up stating I need to install Java. I remember fixing this on her XP machine with Firefox by just following the pop up link, so I assume it is something in Firefox that I have not done that Linux requires and XP does not. BTW we are running Mandrake 10.

Please help me help her as I do not want her to go back to XP. I am a new linux user but have quickly grasped everything I have learned so far. Please keep this in mind if I ask stupid questions.

the file you have to link is not the path that is in the FAQ the path is '/usr/java/j2sdk1.4.2_05/jre/plugin/i386/ns610-gcc32/libjavaplugin_oji.so'

You have to make a link to libjavaplugin_oji.sp (don't copy it!) in the Firefox plugins directory.
