unless you're philosophically opposed to a closed source, binary distrobution

the original is still the best

I think that it is better to have the blackdown version as I have heard that the JRE from sun has some compatibilty problems with some browsers(Mozilla , I think).But I am not sure, and you can try the one you like.

I've seen blackdown recommended. It's being developed for linux with the blessings of Sun.
