Java Runtime Environment set up.

How do I set up my browser so I can view java applet on the web?

They keep saying I'm missing the plug-in Java Runtime Environment.

I've downloaded the Java 2 Runtime Environment from the Java website, and did a sh j2re-0.11.4.1 etc and it created a folder for me.

So anybody know how to enable java support for the Firefox browser?

I'm using Fedora Core 4.

Chuong.

You need to create a symlink e.g.
Code:
#ln -s /opt/java/jre/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so /usr/lib/firefox/plugins/.
In the example above /opt/java is where my java jdk is installed.

Just FYI, there's tons of useful information about Fedora Core in FedoraForum.

Any ideas where all the packages for Java are installed?

You know when you write a java program you import packages?

e.g.

import java.utils.*

class HelloWorld
{
. . .
}

I'm using Fedora Core 4, not too sure where the folder holding that java.utils is. I'm trying to make it so my java program can use a package called B102.jar.

Currently when I compile my program, it says error trying to import the B102 package, thus I can't read in user inputs.

Many thanks in advance.
