Java plugin for Mozilla 1.7.6.

I have a problem with installing java plugin for my Mozilla 1.7.6 - os is Fedora Core 2. I have tried several versions but none of them seems to be installed correctly or at least they don't work. I have followed the instructions but nothing... Could someone please help me with my "newbie" problem? Which version of Java plugin could be recommended?
