Java on Mandriva LE2005 (10.2) not working

I've tried to install Java Runtime Environment on this computer running Mandriva 10.2, both the RPM and the other one. The problem is that as soon as the program using java starts, it hangs; even the java control panel . Has anybody else experienced this problem as well? It worked well in Mandrake 10.1 Official...

EDIT: Maybe this should be in the Mandriva forum... Ah, well .

What java version, and you are sure it is just the JRE (and not the SDK)?
Also, what "control panel" do you mean hangs...is this a part of your window manager or Mandriva specific?

I'm not completely sure, but when I run programs requireing jre, they hang (Limewire, for example)...
The control panel was something I think I found in a folder where the jre is installed.
