Java is killing me!!!
I just installed rh9 and i wanted to get java to run on it. So i downloaded j2re1.4.2_01. I installed it, linked it to my plugin dir in mozilla-1.2.1. but mozilla hasn't recognized the link so i can't go any website that uses java. I also wanted to install limewire and xnap...and those use java aswell. can someone help me out?

Java
I hear you, I linked the plug in to the correct directories for Mozilla and Netscape 7.01 and cannot even get those apps to start now. If I unlink the plug in, the apps will start! I looked at the file permisssions and they are executale for users on the system.
I should add that I am sure that other than the plug in issue, Java is working fine. I am basing this on the fact that I upgraded to Open Office 1.1 which looked for a Java run-time environment. I pointed it to the correct directory and the upgrade went beautifully. But as for the plug-in ............Grrrr. I will let you know if I figure this out. |
Try linking to the .so file in the ns610-gcc32 instead of the plain jane ns610 version.
Also, some builds of Mozilla and Firebird have had problems with Java. Håkan |
That did it!
Thank you very much!!!
That did the trick, Netscape and Mozilla both open and are working fine. |
