Java fun (firefox plugin problems with x86_x64 system)

I currently have 64-bit java 1.4xx and 1.5.0, and 32-bit java 1.4xx - which is what I told the system to use , so Azureus can run correctly ("update-alternatives --config java" and chose the "lib" version, not "lib64").

I'm having problems getting firefox to use the java plugins. I've tried copying and/or linking (ln -s <file>) every single plugin for each java version to the firefox/plugins folder, and I still can't get anything to show up at this test page (it says "click here to download plugin")

I'm running on SUSE 10.2 x86_x64. Firefox is 32-bit. I have found plugins in my /usr/java and in /usr/lib/jvm (with some shortcuts to java folders I can't locate that have the plugins)

How can I fix this? (and what additional information do you need to diagnose the problem?)

Here is a nice tutorial for FC6
Click on the "java runtime plugin" link after the page is fully loaded. Yes I know, you have SUSE, but I think the general instructions are good for all. Pay special attention to the compatible libraries part.
