Java crashes Firefox & Mozilla, with both plugins
Hey,
I've never, ever, been able to get Java to run in Firefox, Mozilla, or Konqueror for that matter, using the ns7 plugin, or the gcc29 plugin. I'm running Slackware 10.1, with all updates available, on 2.6.12.2, and have installed JRE 1.5.0_04 to /usr/lib/jre1.5.0_04, and have setup symlinks in /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins, /usr/lib/firefox/plugins and /home/lithium/.mozilla/plugins to /usr/lib/jre1.5.0_04/plugin/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so. When I attempt to load a Java applet, Mozilla and Firefox crash, and Konqueror does nothing. If I use the gcc-29 plugin, Mozilla and Firefox fail to launch. Java shows up in about lugins, and I have enabled Java in preferences.
Your help and advice on this matter are appreciated.

try using a different window manager. that happened to me a few times in mandrake 10.1 with kde. i switched over to gnome and it worked fine. but that could have just been mandrake problems.

Hey,
I'm using xfce4, but I've just tried it with KDE and FluxBox, and the same thing happens. I forgot to mention that I've tried chmodding the Java directory to 777, and still it won't work. I'm setting the installer as executable before installation too, and I've exhausted Google. Any ideas?

Hey,
After upgrading Java, Firefox, Mozilla etc, still have the same problem. Any ideas, because I've tried all I can find from Google, and people I've asked are stumped.
Update: Fixed it, so nevermind.

I had a spoofed useragent in my browsers, but resetting it to the default (or enabling it for Konqueror) fixed the problem.
