Java

So I installed Redhat9 with ALL of the programming packages included. I want to compile some java source, so I type:

javac _____

at the terminal. It says it can't find javac. What's up?

Also, if I want to compile a basic c++ program, what options do you suggest with gcc?

javac is probably not in your path. You can either type the full path to it:

/usr/java/j2sdk1.4.1_02/bin/javac program.java

or add that to your path.

as far as i know RedHat does not shit with the usual javac from SUN, you have to download it.

http://java.sun.com

I could be wrong though as I still use rh7.3 and not 9. The only java compiler that 7.3 has is the gcc one which i'll never use.
