I'm running Ubuntu Studio 64-bit on a laptop with a Behringer UCA202 USB audio interface (2 in, 2 out). It was working fine a week ago, but now I no longer get any output out of the device through jack except a very faint pulse. I installed some updates, but I don't recall changing anything else before this problem occurred. Now I have updated to Lynx, no change in the symptoms. Sound input from the 202 is fine. Everything works fine when I run jack using the internal sound card. I still get sound out through the 202 under Windows. Any help? I'm not very familiar with the technical side of jack or Linux, and I'm stumped. Thanks
Full disclosure-- this is also posted over at UbuntuForums.com and LinuxMusicians.com.
Have you tried qjackctl to see if the connections are being made?
cat /proc/asound/cards
Perhaps it's been reassigned a different position in the pecking order.
Code:
@ubuntuSt:~$ cat /proc/asound/cards
0 [Intel ]: HDA-Intel - HDA Intel
HDA Intel at 0xf0900000 irq 22
1 [default ]: USB-Audio - USB Audio CODEC
Burr-Brown from TI USB Audio CODEC at usb-0000:00:1d.1-1, full s
2 [nanoKEY ]: USB-Audio - nanoKEY
KORG INC. nanoKEY at usb-0000:00:1d.0-2, full speed
@ubuntuSt:~$
It seems strange to me that the USB audio device is recording audio in OK but still can't send any output.
Strange yes, but there are reasons some of the time. Maybe artsd got kicked off by something and locked the output portion of said device. And other quirks with apps that make assumptions. Not that having 12 ways or more of handling audio helps the matter. esd, artsd, aoss, jackd, pulse-audio, ...........
Any more tips or pointers? I gotta get this back in action. The next step is either to ditch Linux completely for Ableton and Windows or to do yet another system reinstall, both unappealing options!
