J2R won't transfer

I need to run J2Runtime on my boss's computer, the problem is, I keep getting this message when I open it from a USB drive.

Error: Dependency is not satisfiable: sun-java5-bin | ia32-sun-java5-bin

Anybody have an explanation for this? Did I do something wrong?

Marsolin 03-09-2007 03:31 PM

It sounds like you don't have the needed package installed. Have you opened up your package manager and looked for sun-java5-bin?

phantom_cyph 03-09-2007 04:04 PM

no, but where can i download the deb file? The computer i am transferring this to does not have internet access.

phantom_cyph 03-09-2007 05:47 PM

Anybody know where to download that?

Marsolin 03-09-2007 05:53 PM

Check here for Debian and here for Ubuntu.

Make sure you also download the files it lists as dependencies.

Ok-it gives me 2 file when I extract it, jdk-1_5_0_11-dlj-linux-amd64.bin and jdk-1_5_0_11-dlj-linux-i586.bin

Where could I get an i386 deb file that installs like J2R? Does it exist? (I need to know by tomorrow morning)

I found:

http://www.debianhelp.co.uk/debianjava.htm

Is Java 5 actually a runtime environment like J2R? It it is, what am I getting that for? I need to get J2R working on another computer, do I really need another runtime environment for another run environ.?

Marsolin 03-09-2007 09:23 PM

On the pages I linked to there is a section near the bottom that says "Download sun-java5-jre". The table beneath has a column called Architecture. Click the all link and it shows the list of mirrors that have the deb file. Click one of them to download the file.

If you already have the JRE installed then skip that piece and download the dependencies that are listed on the Debian page. Those are the ones with the red dots.

OK-I am still having problems with broken dependencies, look at the files I had:

If someone can tell me what I am missing, that would be very helpful.
