Issues with MySQL

Hello.

This may be a real stupid question, I don't know but I can't figure this one out at all.

I have to install the DBD::Mysql perl module after I get MySQL installed. There are 2 source tarballs in the DBD module directory at www.cpan.org:
Msql-Mysql-modules-1.2219.tar.gz and
DBD-mysql-2.9002.tar.gz
If I'm running MySQL which one should I use?

I've tried installing MySQL from source and that goes smoothly. The problem arises when I try and install the DBD::Mysql module. I get an error when running 'make'. I've attached a link to a webpage where someone else reports having the same problem (however no solution is given their that works): http://lists.fsck.com/pipermail/rt-u...ly/015441.html

Does anyone know what the problem is?

BTW: I'm running a fresh install of RedHat 9.0. All packages were updated before I started this.

You want the DBD-mysql package from cpan. What is the error you get when executing make?

When I'm installing the module from source this is what the screen output looks like. The error appears at the bottom when I try to execute 'make':
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[root@nifty Msql-Mysql-modules-1.2219]# perl Makefile.PL
Which drivers do you want to install?

1) MySQL only
2) mSQL only (either of mSQL 1 or mSQL 2)
3) MySQL and mSQL (either of mSQL 1 or mSQL 2)

4) mSQL 1 and mSQL 2
5) MySQL, mSQL 1 and mSQL 2

Enter the appropriate number: [3] 1

Do you want to install the MysqlPerl emulation? You might keep your old
Mysql module (to be distinguished from DBD::mysql!) if you are concerned
about compatibility to existing applications! [n]

Using DBI 1.37 installed in /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.0/i386-linux-thread-multi/auto/DBI
Writing Makefile for DBD::mysql
Writing Makefile for Msql-Mysql-modules
[root@nifty Msql-Mysql-modules-1.2219]# make
Makefile:83: *** missing separator. Stop.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've tried earlier versions of the module, all give me the same error.
When I look at the Makefile this is what is at lines 83:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
sit
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

That's it, nothing else is at line 83 of the Makefile.

if all you want is the DBD::MySQL module just go with the package I've listed above. I don't have the MySQL Modules package, however I will examine the Makefile in DBD::MySQL to see if a similiar line exists.
