I am running grip, in a GUI (fluxbox). I do not know where you are confused, what info do you need?
When I put a CD into the drive, I select, "Rip + Encode"
The CD spins up, and it begins to rip track 1 to MP3 format. It generates a directory in my home directory called "mp3", then a sub directory called the artists name (whomever the CD is), then the albulm name, so for instance it would look like this when I hit "rip + encode"
~/mp3/pearl_jam/ten/
Under that directory it will start to rip track 1, and it names it accordingly .mp3
While it is ripping, if I open a terminal window, go into the directory and type "ls -s" (directory listing with file size) I can watch the file grow as it continues along. When grip finishes that file, it then just simply erases it, and starts going onto track 2.
What information do you need that I am not providing?
edit:
For instance, if I let it rip + encode the entire CD start to finish, in the directory nothing would be existant. It just erases everything it makes.
