Hey guys, im new to linux. and I am curious about drivers for my video card.


I went to ati website and downloaded the 8500 and above driver thingy. which was 30mb.

After installing it my linux crashed and I had to reinstall. Has anyone succesfully installed the Radeon 9600xt with linux with ati drivers.

Atm I am using Vesa Generic drivers to run linux, and it doesnt seem to be working as fast as it should, hence why I ask this question today.

If someone could give me a hand or advice it would be much apreciated.Im using Linux Redhat 9.0

use newer linux, such as fedora. FC5 comes out in 2 days. with FC3 the ATI drivers are actually slower, but give it a try. RH9 is too old
