I have a UK pub LINUXFormat DVD full of programs. But, I don't have a DVD, only one CD. A friend has both using Win98. Since the CD stores less than a DVD the question is:
Is it possible for my friend to split the DVD about in half and burn each half to CDRw thus ending up with two or more good ISO 9660 CDs without corruption of progs? Any special procedures?
Thanks
PaulT
you certainly cannot just split it and expect it to work as a bootable installation cd. There might be instructions on how to do something like that on the dvd.
I really don't need a bootable CD. The DVD just contains software that is discussed in the mag. I've decided to just go ahead and copy the individual directories to about the max size of a CD and see if it hurts anything off the DVD. If the progs still work, that's fine and I'll just do the same for the rest of the DVD. I'll do that this weekend and let you all know what happened. The DVD contains a complete networking toolkit, GNUCASH, America's Army ( same game talked about from the US Army training), snort2 a sniffer, Slackware live CD, etc. I'll be back.
