Is there the equivalent of Pro Tools for Linux?
I am looking for some good music software and have been unable to find a good all-in-one program like Pro Tools. Is there such a thing or will I have to piece together a whole bunch of programs that only do one function or effect?
Thanks |
there are some programs
but they aren't anywhere as near as good as the stuff available for windows or the mac there is freebirth (nothing like rebirth) there is Pro Tux which is a hard disk recording suite there is audacity (couldn't get it to install) there are others it's a sad that this is so i had hoped for equivelants to Acid and Reason but no joy |
never-the-less
here's a couple of links for you.. hope they help http://www.nongnu.org/protux/ http://www.musiciansoft.com/Linux.htm http://sourceforge.net/projects/glame/ http://www.artzend.com/sounds.htm |
Some more links
http://linux-sound.org/ (huge list of sound software)
http://www.agnula.org/ (effort to build dedicated Linux audio distro) There are currently no finished all-in-ones for Linux but all the components exist; synthisers, sequencers, sampling tools, etc. I haven't tried agnula / demudi but I think they will be worth looking at. |
Thanks, guys. I think I might be able to figure things out from here. :)
BTW, Sal, you might want to consider taking "xxx" and "porn" off of your website. A stupid web filter would think your site was something that it isn't. Or you could break it up with Javascript like so: <script language="javascript"><!-- document.write("po" + "rn"); // --> </script> On the other hand, if you can get the people looking for porn to read the gospel of John instead, you might be onto something. Just a thought. |
