Is there such a piece of software?

Hi everyone

I've just received a huge application form and wondered if we (Linux users) have any software that will allow me to scan to screen-word process answers in-then print page. If we have, I'd be eternally grateful for its name!

Many thanks

Paul

There's probably a name for the kind of operation I'm describing but I don't know what that is either!

Is the "application form" a document?
Do you want to scan the document to an image and view that on-screen?
Then add your response in typed letters over the image?

If I understand correctly;

1) Scan the image as a file
2) Use OpenOffice to create a PDF
3) Use a PDF editing application to retype the text over the image
4) Reprint the document.

OR

1) Scan the image as a file
2) Put it in OpenOffice as a "background image" (send to back)
3) Create a table over the scanned image
4) Type the values that you require
5) Reprint the document

Here is something that you might find useful too

Hi Zabzoo

Many thanks for the link, flpsed is just what I was looking for! I downloaded and installed it direct using synaptic package manager ( I'm using Ubuntu 8.04). It's not the fastest way to fill in a form but compared to my handwriting it's certainly the most legible!

Thanks again

Paul
