Is there anything similar to "gtk-jockey" for Debian Stable?

I'm working on a distro of my own that was going to be Ubuntu-based. However, this past week, I read an article about Canonical forcing Linux Mint and other Ubuntu-based distros to sign some kind of contract in order to be able to use Ubuntu's repos.

Since there doesn't seem to be much in the way of details regarding this, I'm having second thoughts about basing it on Ubuntu and would instead prefer to switch my distro idea to Debian Stable. However, since I want to keep my distro idea beginner-friendly, I would like to know if there's something similar to Ubuntu's "Jockey" program that suggests drivers for wireless cards, NVidia video cards, and the like that works like a charm in Debian, preferably the Stable branch.

Thanx in advance,
Fred in St. Louis

OFF-TOPIC:

I love the thread title - pity you couldn't find a use for the word "horse" in it :)

I have had good luck using the Debian Wiki as an alternative to jockey-gtk:
