Yes.. please take a look at the Wine Project: www.winehq.org. Most distros will have wine in their repositories so you should be able to install it without issue.

Be that as it may ... if you have a need to run Windows executables, I suggest that you run Windows. (Yuck!)

Windows is a "big, fat, hairy beast" of a system, with many tightly coupled parts joined at the hip. And what I am basically saying here is, if you need to run that program, the best-all-around way to do that is to install a copy of the complete environment that it expects.

(Obviously, Wine is a very good program ... an astonishing program, in fact. I'm not insulting it. I use it all the time.)

You can run Windows in a virtual machine, say ... and that happens to be exactly what I do now. Microprocessors these days have built-in support for virtual machines, and moderately-priced tools like VMWare provide a very robust environment which Windows will, albeit grudgingly, accept. Because the VM-magic is largely being handled in hardware, there is negligible overhead. I direct Windows to a virtual volume on an external (Firewire-attached) disk drive purchased just for this reason. It has no idea that the environment it's running in isn't "real," and it performs as good as real. (In the case of older Windows versions, sometimes quite better.)
