is there any good X11-based word processor?
i dont like programs that rum on gtk+ or qt as my computer is of lower spec and it slows my computer. i was wondering if there is a program that uses low level graphics but still does the job of rendering text and images as a functional word processor out there?
i know this is irrelevant a kind im looking for is like older versions of korean word processor called haansoft 'arehangul' which was based in MS-DOS. the last MS-DOS version was incredibly functional and had its own grapical interface all in MS-DOS. (later it was completely ported to ms-windows then offshoot of this product is hancom word). so what im looking for is a kind that either uses very small graphical package or even ncurses or its own small graphical library. |
Google a search on "x11" "word processor" and start looking.
I turned up these four on the first page: abiword GWP HancomWord LyX LyX is a typesetting program rather than a word processing program. It requires a different mind-set, but the end result is similar, if not better. |
I haven't used it much myself (except when playing with a couple of small live-CD distributions), but you might want to check out Siag Office/Pathetic Writer: http://siag.nu/index.shtml / http://siag.nu/pw/ .
Hope this helps. |
my vote for abiword, hands down.
