Is there a xine plugin to play midis? Is there an alternative player for midis?
I'm running RH 9.0, I just read about the discontinuation of support for RH in Linux Magazine, that really pisses me off... Anyhoo, Is there a xine plugin to play midis? Or is there an alternative player for midis?

I'm not too sure about Xine but XMMS has a MIDI plugin, it uses Timidity (kinda like mpg123 but for MIDI's) try searching Google.

Try it from source. I had a problem with a Slack package of XMMS, so I just used source. It's probably one of the easiest programs to install from source.

o.O. Damn, I'm fresh out of ideas. I take it you didn't get any errors during ./configure or make? This is really odd. I doubt its a memory issue as XMMS doesn't use very much memory, it uses 3 MB of swap space on mine. But maybe try googling for segfaults with XMMS. THe only time I ever had one was when I tried to use a sound enhancer plugin, but a lot of people were having a similar problem. Maybe try rolling back a version or too.
