Is there a way to use "system bell" for KDE events, like error, etc.

I'm using Slackware 10.2 with KDE.

My laptop is old so I'd like to use the "system bell" beep for KDE errors, questions, events, etc.

In Control Panel I can hear the "system bell" make a beep when I click test. Furthermore if I make an error in console I do get a system beep.

How can I make KDE use that beep instead of it's default sound system?

Thank you in advance.

I guess I'm confused. It sounds like you went to Control Center>Sound&Multimedia>System Bell. Did you check 'Use system bell instead of system notification'?

Hi Eldoran,

Yes I did co into control center and check off the check box to use the system bell, I clicked apply. If I click the "test" button there I do get a system beep on the computer.

For some reason tho, when I get an error or a pop up box in KDE programs or anything in linux for that matter, I still get sounds like the 'broken glass' for error, etc.

I do get system beep if I'm in console let's say, and hit backspace too many times or do something wrong.

It just seems that I cannot get KDE to use the system bell for the errors.

Because this computer is not the fastest in the world, I could get a pop up box, like an OK dialog, I click it and then about 3 seconds later I hear the sound from KDE and it's kind of annoying on this old pc.

I'm using the standard KDE in slackware 10.2 .

Thanks again.
