is there a way to use plain c code as scripting code?

int main(int argc, char *argv[]){
char name[256];

printf("what is yer name? ");
scanf("%s", &name);

printf("Hello %s", name);

or maybe something that resembles c? bash just isn't doing it for me!

Don't think so..
For future reference, whenever you post code, put it inside [ code ] [/ code ] tags, without the spaces.

 And now
                    it all
it 's f o r ma tt ing

Try perl, that's another very good language. Also try going to and getting the bash scripting guide, it's there somewhere. That will help a lot when learning bash.

csh? Not quite what you're looking for and supposedly has severe downsides, but is supposed to be more comfortable for the C programmer than bash.
