is there a program that will display caller id when someone calls the house

we all hate telemarketers when they call the house to ruin a perfect dinner, interupt work, wake us up in the morning ect

i been having to walk all the way across the house when the phone rings only to find out that it was a telemarketer there is a phone line in my room but the caller id phones have dead batteries, so i can't see the id of the person calling without walking to the other side of the house

is ther a program that will display the caller id on screen when someone calls the house (i want it to read the id through the phone line that has been connected to the computer)

Searching through my debian repositories, it looks like mgetty handles caller id okay.

I can't search through your repositories, but you should have access to mgetty.

I suspect it get installed to /usr/bin, /bin, /sbin, or /usr/sbin. Not sure if it's considered a system program or a user program. You can probably do whereis mgetty or locate mgetty.
