Is there a program that can make Networking diagrams
I am not talking about network scanning and monitoring tools. I am looking for a program that can create diagrams of network charts that I can use in Impress (powerpoint) and writer (Word)
I can't remember what I looked at a few weeks ago. It was some big name deal that some web page talked about. Maybe OpenOffice or Calligra or such. Some well known app had a great template and extras to do that task. I might remember and report back.
DIA has been doing the work for me ever better than visio or libreoffice draw, It really beats going out and purchasing the packet tracer program from cisco (I am a bit of a cheapskate when it comes to software i guess)
I use GraphViz, which is an open-source tool that plots graphs algorithmically.
For instance, to describe a network, you would describe what nodes connect to what nodes; perhaps nothing more. The software calculates the layout of the graph, then plots it.
The dot user's guide (PDF) in the documentation is a good place to begin. It is not particularly friendly.
