Is there a linux portscanner?
Hello... I've searched google for "linux portscanner"
and I get some mandrake (mdk) .rpm package but thats like what 50% of the results are... is for that mdk rpm... so it wasn't much help.... I'm on redhat 9.1 not mdk So.... hopefully one of you can help.... i'm particularly looking for one with a GUI and not command line.... but if all you know about is a command line one... then i'll take it anyways ;-) Thanks... A linux :newbie: |
try nmap
Most likely it's already installed in your distro. It's CLI, but you really can't get any simpler |
namp has a GUI front end. Search for it, it shouldn't be hard to find; I think it's nmapfe.

I really don't know what a GUI could improve for nmap ... a simple "nmap [ip/hostname]" and you get a very clear result in the CLI. Not much could be simpler

Yes there is
Nmap - the Network Mapper is the De Facto portscanner for the computer security world. It has more features than anything and is flexible (with IDS evasion techniques) You don't get 100% of the features or the flexibiltiy with the gui version but it works just as well.
www.insecure.org/nmap use xnmap as the gui for it. |
nessus is pretty nice also
|
But nmap has been used in Matrix Reloaded! =D

nessus is a network security scanner

Nessus is NOT a portscanner. Nessus is a host vulnerability scanner that USES nmap for portscanning purposes. If you just want portscanner, use nmap. If you want full blown vulnerability scanning, use nessus.
