Is there a blu-ray player out there yet?
 

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone knows if a blu-ray player for GNU/Linux systems has been released yet? (or in development)

I know of the copying to hard drive method, but that takes a long time, if you just want to watch a movie!

I don't really mind if it's proprietary software, or if i even have to pay for it, it's just a shame I have reboot into Windows to watch blu-ray, when I can do pretty much everything else under Kubuntu!

I know LinDVD doesn't support it (and their site is really outdated!)

Google is your friend. There's loads of other things out there but this was the first solution I found.

Like I said, I know of the ripping to the hard drive method, that takes time, and you need about 50gig of temporary free space!

I tried Googleing the other day, and only heard a rumour that the Linux version of PowerDVD is supposed to support it, but it's not available for end users... so I ask "what's the point in that then?"

So it seems there is still no blu-ray player that streams from the disc itself?
