Is the Fedora 14 OS will run in IBM X 3200 M3 System?
I have installed Fedora 14 OS in our IBM X 3200 M3 System and it worked for a week without any trouble. We switched off the server in the evening and re-started in the next morning, it says " no root device - sleeping forever " and the system is not booting. After that, we asked the IBM Service Engineers. They told Fedora is not suitable for this x series server and asked to go for Linux 5 Red Hat Version or MS Windows 2003.

Well, since Fedora 14 is clearly NOT running on your particular piece of IBM hardware, and the IBM engineers specifically TOLD YOU it wasn't supported, then I'd guess it won't.
There MAY be some ways of performing an installation with Fedora, but the message you're getting could mean any one of a thousand things (SAN disk? LVM & Local disk? PXE Boot??). Bottom line, if you want to be supported by IBM, then you need to load what IBM tells you to load. That means RHEL (which means PAYING FOR RedHat Enterprise).
^ i agree with tb0ne, but that is similar as saying that fedora-14 can't run on an acer netbook because acer only supports windows (they wouldnt give me support for the wifi so i did some heavy research on the internet to get it to run).
it seems like for the time being you would have to keep it on (or re-install fedora after each weekly reboot).

Well, there is probably a way to do it WITHOUT a reinstall after every reboot...but the OP provides no details about the hardware or how it was set up. Without that, it's moot. Also, if the OP wants to remain in a supported configuration with IBM...that narrows it down.
I would do what IBM wants
buy a license for RHEL 5.6 or 6.1
or install CEntOS 5.6 or SL 6.0
fedora has a WAY WAY WAY to short of a life span
fedora 14 will hit it's END OF LIFE in 7 months
so in 7 months you WILL NEED TO INSTALL the then current fedora 16 skipping fedora 15 . A full clean REINSTALL

good advice, but yum install preupgrade works pretty well. all that is said about it being bleeding-edge is mostly just branding. i used the live-usb as a standard desktop for a while now with a few quirks.

+1. it would be like taking a warrentied ford to a chevy dealership. they will just tell you they recommend their brand that they manufacture/ repair.
