Is it the word processor or printer?

I still have some lingering documents that I prepared with MS Word and am trying to print from my Linux machine. I can open the files fine with AbiWord (and I am sure a whole host of word processors) and they look as they did with MS Word. Fine.

The problem comes when I try to print them. I am using CUPS+Gimp-Print v4.2.5 for my HP LaserJet 4L, but when I print the document comes out looking a lot different than it did in AbiWord.

Is this a problem with word processor or is this a problem with CUPS+Gimp-Print v4.2.5?

If it is the word processor, can you suggest a better?

If it is in CUPS, can you suggest a fix?

Thanks in advance!
