I'm assuming that your iTunes is meant to be run under Windows 98. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I have found that wine is not a very capable Windows emulator. Personally I'm currently using Win4Lin to run Windows 95 under Linux and I'm running Netzero under that Win4Lin Windows 95 to connect to the internet to post this message here. Considering how demanding internet software is to Windows, that should suggest that Win4Lin is a good candidate for your iTunes, since it can also run Windows 98 and includes Direct X support. However, I have never used iTunes so I don't know for sure. Unfortunately, Win4Lin these days has almost non-existent technical support and you need that technical support in order to get the modified Linux kernel that is required to run Win4Lin.
I have never used Parallels nor VMWare, but have been told that they are even better virtual machines than even Win4Lin. I am expecting to get FC4 soon and plan to try out Parallels and see how it runs Windows 95 under FC4. Maybe then, I might have a better feel as to how good Parallels is as a virtual machine.
Here is a link where you might find an answer:http://www.vmware.com/community/index.jspa. At the moment I am running two vms on xp, haven't tried it the other way round.
if all you want is to download songs, then you can get sharpmusique. There are other applications to connect and upload to the itunes player. I don't think you are going to get itunes to work with wine, perhaps codeweavers has figured it out. For a small ,fee of course.

yes, that's what I wrote. Sharpmusique will allow you to download songs (no video) from the itunes music store. One good thing about using this is that the sogns are drm clean.
