is it possible to install sql server on linux
 
I am new to linux
I wanted to know is it possible to install Sql server 2005 or higher ver. on redhat linux.

No. That's Windows software, for Windows. Just like Mac software won't run on Windows, Windows software won't run on Linux.

You MAY be able to get it going with Wine, but I'd not trust the results.

Linux offers at least two excellent databases, MySQL and PostgresQL, which might be even better that MsSQL. It depends on how much you are tied to the MsSQL version and if you have any freedom in choosing the database.

Like TB0ne said, maybe you can run it in Wine, but why take any risks if you need a database server to rely on? Stay in Windows with MsSQL, and regrettable that is another success for MS chain sell policy.
