yes!its somewhat buggy(just introduced in the 2.6.x kernel...im not sure of x, but it is in 2.6.10 kernel)it uses acpi, turn on software suspend when you configure the kernel, then under /proc/acpi there'll be two files, sleep and wakeup.
to hibernate
echo 4 > /proc/acpi/sleep
be sure to pass the resume=my_swap_partition
option to the kernel
also, to standby(dosen't power off, just less power consumption)
echo 1 > /proc/acpi/sleep
to wakeup
echo 1 > /proc/acpi/sleep
there's more info in
/Documentation/power/swsusp.txt(in the kernel source tree)
i have it working pretty well on my laptop...though for some reason once i resume two problems
-reboots again then resumes
-vt1 is wiped
besides that it works great, good luck!
