Is adobe favoring Google chrome over firefox?
Hi
I have been using firefox for a long time and it is still my prefer web browser. In firefox, sites that uses flash are not playing properly; sometimes there is no video or there is video but no sound. Hwever, flash works well if the site is compatible with flash 11.2 or lower.
I visited these sites again but with the google chrome browser and behold the videos and audio played without any issues.
In the chrome URL, I typed chrome://plugins/ and saw this version of flash.
Quote:
Adobe Flash Player (2 files) - Version: 11.9.900.170
Shockwave Flash 11.9 r900

What puzzles me is, I though google chrome was using Pepperflash as the adobe replacement.
Did google made any deals to adobe to continue adobe flash support for the chrome browsers?

I have no idea, but I wish Flash would just die already.
Just my humble opinion.
I haven't used Flash in, geez, years, and I haven't really felt like I'm missing out on anything, although I do realise there is probably some perfectly valid content out there still delivered exclusively via Flash. But it seems like the more everyone pronounces Flash dead, the longer is sticks around. It was not attractive when it was alive, and even less so now that it's dead.

So would I. But many sites still uses flash for their content. Let's hope they wake up and start using html5 for media content.

Yes, it is no secret that Google and Adobe have an agreement.
Opps, edited on should be no.

I definitely wouldn't put it past two large organisations like Adobe and Google to enter into an agreement and excluding a large non-profit org like Mozilla. Not that I'm a conspiracy theorist but...come on...

So why do you wish it would die? If you don't use it it doesn't affect you.
Don't get me wrong, I'm no fan of Flash but without it I would get no legal commercial media from the internet unless I installed Microsoft's Silverlight (which I may still do to get Amazon media but that's another story). As it is if it's a choice between Flash and Silverlight I'll take Flash any day.
I dread the day that the Flash plugin for Firefox won't play the videos I use it for as the Flash plugin for Chrome won't stay full screen on one of my monitors whilst I use the other -- something the old versions of Flash dealt with just fine. I think Google enjoy deliberately regressing software -- just look at how dumbed-down Chrome is generally.

I don't know about back office deals but Google paid a bunch to use and access rights to Adobe.
Could have simply suggested to them they either play with or get devoured.
