IPSec VPN Client on Ubuntu

Hi,

I am an average user running Ubuntu at home. I have to connect to work remotely over VPN. The problem I am facing is that I cannot find a Linux based VPN client that can do the following:

-Work behind NAT
-Support IPSec

Since it is quite important that I can connect to work, if I do not get the VPN connection up and running, I will have no other alternative but to use Windows.

I have tried a few options but they seem to fulfill partial requirements. For example OpenVPN does not support IPSec though it works behind NAT. Other do not work behind NAT but support IPSec.

So, I place this in the hands of Linux supporters.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Reef.

What kind of VPN is it at your work?

Perhaps it is Cisco concentrator?... in which case you'll find you only have luck with Cisco's vpnclient. That has been my experience anyway.

cheers

Hi,

Thanks for replying.

The VPN server is on the firewall which runs on FreeBSD. The problem, however, is that the VPN connection type has to be IPSec and I'm behind a Linksys router.

If we had a Cisco concentrator, I could use the Cisco client but unfortunately that is not the case.

I got information that Racoon is a client that might work.

I shall give that a shot.
