I was wandering if anyone knew of a free IP multicast publishing server for linux. the only multicast servers I have see are Windows media server and Real Media server (free limited to 25 connections).

I have looked at VLC but ideal I am looking for 1 server that distributes the stream's that can be fed from various systems on the network.

i would be grateful of any suggestions

I believe this could be a good solution although the support on Linux seem limited. so far went thought all the "guides" to install and only got the administration console installed which seems to be a python script. but nothing out there seems to help with compiling and installing the actual server. and all the guides are for an older version 5.6 which only version 6.0 is the only one available...

If I have any more luck with this I will let you know. but anyone with any other suggestions I am more than happy to try them out
