iostat

I am kind of confused with the output from iostat

Device: rrqm/s wrqm/s r/s w/s rsec/s wsec/s rkB/s wkB/s avgrq-sz avgqu-sz await svctm %util

sdo 0.00 0.00 21.24 30.86 346.29 1251.10 173.15 625.55 30.66 0.69 13.28 7.47 38.92

sdp 0.00 0.00 14.83 29.66 237.27 1366.93 118.64 683.47 36.06 0.78 17.45 7.95 35.39

sdq 0.00 0.00 22.85 33.87 365.53 1554.11 182.77 777.05 33.85 0.90 15.89 6.78 38.46

---

Is await means that application waited for that many millisec?

Also what exaclty in avgqu-sz? Is it the queue where io was being blocked? In the above case await is higher than svctm which means host is waiting before it's sent to the disk?
