IO Meter : Linux : *** No rule to make target `modules'. Can't get it to work


Trying to install IO Meter on Suse Linux. Can't get past this error message :

root@isp5599:/root/iometer30/iometer-2004.07.30/src/iomtr_kstat $ make -f Makefile
make -C /lib/modules/2.6.16.53-0.8-smp/build/ SUBDIRS=`pwd` modules
make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/src/linux-2.6.16.53-0.8-obj/x86_64/smp'
make[1]: *** No rule to make target `modules'. Stop.
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux-2.6.16.53-0.8-obj/x86_64/smp'
make: *** [standalone] Error 2

I am assuming you are compiling this on an x86_64 machine correct?

yes. it is suse sles9 server x86 64. And I downloaded the appropriate source for that version.
root@isp5599:/root $ uname -a
Linux isp5599 2.6.16.53-0.8-smp #1 SMP Fri Aug 31 13:07:27 UTC 2007 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64

Couldn't find the 2004 version you are using, make works for me:
~/work/iometer-2006_07_27.common-src/src $ make -f Makefile-Linux.x86_64 all

okay, thanks that worked. I just have to get g++ working now.
