Introducing Reiser4 For AMD64

Hi,
As was announced earlier, Namesys got a AMD64 PC for testing... Which they have done!!!
Finally, Reiser4 can be seriously used in a 64bit environment.
To get the necessary patches, get this:
http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t...er4+amd64.html

It's easier this way...

to get off topic:
nice signature...

power cycling always reminds me of something horrifying i ran into in college:

a student complained something was wrong with her PC. it was unresponsive. after a little investigating, we found the student had learned to switch the machine on/off by toggling "the little red switch on the back"

-- the voltage switch for the power supply.

What surprises me is that the power supply could take this *brutal* reset more than once!
Wow!?

Ok, so you're still scared by common sayings and don't take the limp to get reiser4? As mentioned before, reiser4 is now *stable* on AMD64.

Here are some "benchmarks" I performed my self...

My hardware isn't all that important to demonstrate my point, what matters is that they are performed in a 64bit environment(Athlon 64 3500+ on gentoo). This is what makes them *special*.

Code:
//Make bzImage of kernel-2.6.9-gentoo-r14
Reiser4:
	Setup is 2479 bytes.
	System is 2022 kB
	Kernel: arch/x86_64/boot/bzImage is ready

	real 5m41.750s
	user 3m59.144s
	sys 0m45.368s

Regular reiserfs:
	Setup is 2479 bytes.
	System is 2022 kB
	Kernel: arch/x86_64/boot/bzImage is ready

	real 6m55.452s
	user 4m1.416s
	sys 0m28.756s

///Copy of the a 200meg folder

Reiser4:
	real 0m14.093s
	user 0m0.062s
	sys 0m1.728s
Regular reiserfs:
	real 0m23.724s
	user 0m0.074s
	sys 0m1.934s
