internet service providers for linux
HI everyone,
I was told by my teacher that there is an internet service provider for linux that is based in New York City, but he would now tell me for some reason. does any body know what that is and could you please tell me. Also if you know of any internet service providers that are compatible with linux please tell me as well. thanx |
Is it really necessary to differentiate between a ISP which provides linux connectivity or windows connectivity or both?
Over here in Bombay, I have been able to connect to 3 separate ISPs using Linux - no problems whatsoever. TOUCHWOOD! And I never cared whether they supported windows or linux. Give it a whirl, try connecting to your current ISP. |

You pick any ISP. All are compatible with All OS. :) But the only thing is you have to learn how to setup your Linux Box. It's nothing to do with ISP. |
I live in WA, and Verizon works just fine for me, it's all DHCP so nothing was a problem, it was all "picked up" easily.
Cool |
But there is one thing.
If you subscribe broadband (single user), most of the ISP give you the broadband modem and software only for the windows. In this case you need to setup your own thing. so I think you are looking for the ISP which supports the modem and software installation for Linux ? Yeah! that make sense. |
Hi PPURU,
how would I go about connecting to my current isp because I do I have dialup and Im using it for windows? My distro is Suse 8.2 pro. |
